Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza are living in fragile, makeshift shelters that offer little defence against the cold, especially at night. As Ramadan approaches, parents wrap children in thin blankets, sleep on damp ground and pray that flooding does not destroy what little shelter remains.
In recent days, humanitarian organisations and international media have reported deaths caused by exposure and extreme cold, including babies and young children. These were not deaths caused by illness or lack of care. They were caused by cold nights, soaked tents, and the absence of safe shelter.
For families in Gaza, winter is far more than just hardship. Without shelter, it is a threat to their lives. Some of those facing these conditions may not reach Ramadan without urgent help, and none of us are promised tomorrow. The need cannot wait.
A 4×4 metre durable emergency shelter provides vital protection from wind, rain and cold. It gives families a safe, private space to rest, keep children warm and face the holy month of Ramadan with greater dignity and security.
Giving now allows shelters to be built, and supplies secured in time for Ramadan, so your support carries its reward throughout the holy month.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress, Allah will relieve his distress on the Day of Resurrection.”
(Sahih Muslim)
This Ramadan, help families in Gaza survive the winter.
