URGENT CRISIS: RATS ARE CAUSING MAYHEM IN GAZA

A horrifying new crisis is unfolding inside the overcrowded displacement camps of Gaza. As temperatures soar, plagues of rats and mice are swarming the tents where more than 1.4 million displaced people are trapped.

Rodents are chewing directly through the canvas of tents and ruining what little food families have left. With no safe storage facilities, families struggle to protect their supplies.

Shelters have been turned into breeding grounds for pests, surrounded by mounds of uncollected trash and rubble.

Children and babies are at SEVERE RISK of scabies, pneumonia, and acute diarrhoea.

Already severely weakened by chronic malnutrition, their fragile immune systems cannot fight off these preventable diseases. 

Mothers are staying awake through the night, terrified that rats will bite their sleeping babies.

We have launched an emergency response to distribute specialised rodent control kits directly to families living in these tents.

These kits provide safe, targeted pest control to clear out the infestations, safeguard the remaining food supplies, and stop the spread of deadly infections before they claim more innocent lives.

We've also scaled up our food distribution to make up for the spoiled food in families' tents.

LATEST DISEASE OUTBREAK IN GAZA

In the shattered camps of Gaza, a devastating chickenpox ​outbreak is sweeping through tents. For thousands of innocent children already emaciated by hunger, their weakened immune systems cannot fight off the virus. 

Their bodies are covered in painful blisters, burning with fever, and they have no clean water to soothe their skin.

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever." [Al-Bukhari]. 

Right now, the smallest limbs of our Ummah are aching in agony.

Alhamdulillah, thanks to you, we're funding doctors and nurses who are working around the clock at Al-Barakah Hospital, treating desperate children and mothers daily. But medicines are running out, and the hospital needs urgent resources to keep saving lives.

Today, there are no fully functioning hospitals left in Gaza. For a population of more than 2.1 million people, only 18 hospitals remain, and those are only partially operational.

That's ONE HOSPITAL for every 116,000 people.

Gaza is still under attack, and the news has very little coverage!

Children get sick, many injured people need treatment, those with chronic illnesses need long-term care. More than 50,000 pregnant women are currently living in Gaza, and around 160 babies are born DAILY!

There are simply not enough hospitals left to care for them.

The bombs may not be falling as frequently as they once were, but Gaza's medical crisis is far from over. We need to step in now.

There are just some forms of the many forms of humanitarian relief and essential supplies we've delivered to Palestine. Not only do we operate from the ground, we also send assistance from Jordan and Egypt, with teams travelling out regularly to assist in these lifesaving efforts. 

Our team is primarily distributing with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO). We’re also partnered with the Egyptian Youth Council, the Egyptian Red Crescent to ensure relief is reaching those in need in Palestine.
